Seminar outline is composed of four interrelated sections dealing with recent trends on perishable handling of fresh produce, the elucidation of the fruit ripening syndrome in tree fruit crops such as peach and plum with diverse ripening patterns, the incidence and management of physiological disorders due to extensive cold storage, and examples of state-of-the-art postharvest technologies such as new interactive storage systems (Dynamic Controlled Atmosphere), the application of ethylene antagonists (1-methylcyclopropene), ozone, and the combined effect of sulfur dioxide fumigation and controlled atmosphere to extend fruit market life.
